Students Hospitalised As Explosion Rocks Filling Station Opposite OAU Hostel (PHOTOS)
At least 26 students from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals in Ile-Ife, Osun State, after an explosion spread from a nearby filling station to their hostel at Legere Road.
The incident occurred around 6:00 pm on Tuesday, causing injuries of varying degrees to the students. The Students Union President, Abbass Akinremi Ojo, stated that many students are in pain, and the filling station owner needs to be held responsible.
The National Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, has intervened, resulting in the closure of the concerned filling station and two annexes.
Akinremi Ojo insist that the owner must cover the students’ hospital bills, refund their rent, and compensate for damages.
