SO SAD!!!! One Killed As Yoruba And Hausa Traders Clash In Lagos Market (PHOTOS)
In a clash between Yoruba youths and Hausa traders at Oluwole Market in Lagos State’s Ogba area, one person was reported dead, with several others sustaining injuries.
Though the exact cause of the clash remains unclear, sources indicate that the crisis began on the night of Thursday, February 22, 2024, and continued into Friday.
The deceased, identified as Abbey, was reportedly injured while attempting to settle a dispute between two Hausa men.
Allegedly, he was stabbed by an unidentified assailant, resulting in severe bleeding that ultimately led to his death.
Following Abbey’s death, tensions escalated, leading to a reprisal attack between Yoruba and Hausa groups in the area.
This led to the destruction of food items, including peppers and onions, sold by Hausa traders, and disrupted commercial activities in the market.
A resident of Ogba, who identified himself as Christopher, said,
“We received information on Thursday night to avoid the Oluwole Market area. We thought the situation had been resolved, but today, the conflict resumed with individuals hurling dangerous objects at each other.”
The situation was eventually brought under control with the intervention of policemen from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), who helped calm tensions in the area.
