SO SAD!!! 80-year-old Woman Burnt To Death As Fire Razes Benue community
In Tse Agubor Gyaruwa, tragedy struck as a fire swept through the community in Tsambee-Mbesev Council Ward of Gwer-West Local Government Area, Benue State.
An 80-year-old woman lost her life, and more than 50 houses and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.
The village head, Chief Ayatse Agubor, disclosed that the fire started around 10 am while residents were in the farm.
Despite efforts to contain it, the entire village succumbed to flames. Chief Agubor cautioned against unauthorized bush burning, emphasizing consequences for offenders.
Hajia Kongo, a resident, bemoaned significant losses, including over 10 bags of maize, soya beans, and cash hidden in burnt corn bags.
Responding to the incident, Mr. Henry Agba, caretaker chairman of Gwer-West LGA, vowed zero tolerance for illicit bush burning and announced plans to assess the damage for assistance through the Benue State Emergency Management Agency.
