OH REALLY!!!!Policemen Are Not Permitted To Search Citizens Phones – Lagos CP

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Fayoade Adegoke, has emphasized that police officers are not permitted to search citizens’ phones.

Adegoke stated that if an officer suspects anything, the proper procedure is to take the suspect to the cyber section of the police station.

During his visit to Melody FM in Lagos, he encouraged citizens to report any misconduct by police officers to their Divisional Police Officer (DPO) or Area Commander.

In his words;

“If you feel a policeman engaged in corruption or cheated you, kindly report the policeman to his DPO or Area Commander. But if you still feel cheated, please report to me directly. My phone number is open to all Lagosians.”

“No police officer has the right to beat citizens. The people are the government’s employers; your taxes support us. Thus, we have to treat you with the appropriate decency.”

“Also, no policeman has the right to search your phone. If a policeman suspects anything on your phone, he will take you to the station. We have a cyber department that is responsible for all that”.
