NDLEA Intercepts Large Consignment Of Illicit Drugs In Ondo, Edo, FCT (DETAILS)
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted significant quantities of illicit drugs and substances in recent raids conducted in Ondo, Edo, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) over the past week.
This information was disclosed by Mr. Femi Babafemi, the spokesman for NDLEA, in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja.
In Ondo State, 227kg of hemp was seized from Atoshi camp, Emure-Ile, Owo Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of two suspects.
Meanwhile, in Edo, on February 14, operatives intercepted a methamphetamine consignment traveling from Onitsha, Anambra, to Lagos in a Toyota Sienna bus.
The 0.966kg meth consignment was concealed within a cassava-based local food item known as “Abacha,” resulting in the arrest of the 42-year-old driver.
On the same day, NDLEA officers intercepted a Peugeot 406 space wagon on the Uromi road in Esan Northeast LGA.
The search revealed the recovery of 865 bottles of codeine, 2,600 pills of tramadol, and 600 tablets of swinol and rohypnol, leading to the arrest of the 47-year-old driver.
Additionally, in the FCT, NDLEA operatives conducted raid operations in the Kubwa area, resulting in the arrest of a 47-year-old and an 18-year-old.
The suspects were intercepted with 10.5kg of cannabis (Indian hemp), 13.5g of diazepam, and 2.9g of tramadol tablets.
