NAFDAC Alongside Customs Burns Expired, Fake Drugs In Sokoto (Photos)
NAFDAC and Nigerian Customs joined forces to burn expired and fake products in Sokoto, worth millions.
Customs Controller Musa Omale shared that these items were seized in 2023 and this year across Sokoto/Kebbi.
They’re ensuring strict border patrol to keep counterfeits out. NAFDAC’s Adamu Garba emphasized destroying expired drugs prevents them re-entering the market, ensuring only genuine and quality products are imported and made in Nigeria.
Garba praised Customs for seizing banned substances, combating harm caused by fake products. He stressed that drug counterfeiting harms the economy and public health. NAFDAC is actively engaging leaders to discourage such practices.
The burned products included antibiotics, banned drugs, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Garba thanked law enforcement, groups, and urged consumers to report suspicious activities. The event was attended by Army, police, NSCDC, NDLEA, NIS, and Customs officials.
