Why The Matrix’s Smith Is So Much Weaker After Revolutions
When Agent Smith shows up in The Matrix Resurrections he’s considerably weaker than he was in The Matrix Revolutions. Played by Hugo Weaving in the Wachowski Sister’s original Matrix trilogy, he was replaced by Jonathan Groff for the fourth installment, presenting himself as the head of a video game development company that oversaw the games made by Thomas Anderson, who has used all of his memories of the Matrix as the basis for his latest video game. Neo isn’t aware of his powers at all until he’s unplugged from the Matrix again and reacquainted with his messiah persona by several renegade humans from the real world.
