Why Ahsoka Could Defeat Darth Maul (When Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn Couldn’t)

One of the most satisfying arcs in Star Wars: The Clone Wars is the final arc of season 7, where Ahsoka Tano managed to defeat Darth Maul during the Siege of Mandalore. In many ways, Ahsoka and Maul were the perfect match given that they were both former apprentices. But what’s most surprising about their battle is that Ahsoka succeeded where many other Jedi failed. Despite Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn’s renowned ability, he was soundly defeated and killed by Maul at the end of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Meanwhile, despite having never become a Jedi Knight, Ahsoka defeated and captured Maul.
