Original Star Wars villains like Darth Vader, the Emperor, and Jabba the Hutt are all independently strong, but they actually had some dark reasons for working together as well. The Empire’s power is something that covers nearly all of the Star Wars galaxy in stories that take place during its reign, but they weren’t the sole entity in control. The Empire allowed powerful criminal syndicates to exist under its reign, and the absolutely flourished. The flourishing of these syndicates was a big element of the Imperial Era and the original trilogy, but it was also a scheme with very dark motivations.
