The Simpsons’ Unused 1990s Spinoff Plan Should Still Happen (& Could Save The Show)

The Simpsons writer Josh Weinstein recently revealed a canceled “Springfield” spinoff, but the canned idea could still work to save the long-running animated sitcom. Talking to fans on X, Weinstein revealed that The Simpsons creator Matt Groening and the team explored a spinoff concept focussing on the lives of Springfield’s residents in the late 1990s, but the idea never came to fruition. However, after 34 years on the air, this particular spinoff concept could be exactly what the show needs.
