The Original Xenomorph Design Would Have Ruined Alien

Alien‘s xenomorph is one of the most iconic designs in cinema history, but the original plan was for it to look very different, and it would have completely ruined the movie. Alien is considered a masterpiece of sci-fi horror, and a huge part of that is the utterly iconic look of the titular villain. Producer, Walter Hill, understood the importance of nailing the design, stating that the film would “succeed or fail on the conception of the beast.” He was right: the ultimate look of the xenomorph was fantastic and Alien ultimately spawned a hugely popular multimedia franchise.
