The Last Of Us Season 2 Shouldn’t Replace Joel – It Already Has A Better Character

Despite having a few promising candidates for the position, HBO’s The Last of Us shouldn’t try to replace Joel as the lead character. The Last of Us stars Pedro Pascal as Joel, a grizzled, grieving father, and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, the surrogate daughter he reluctantly takes under his wing. The first Last of Us game fit neatly into season 1 of the TV adaptation, but season 2 has the daunting task of breaking up the massive, multifaceted nonlinear narrative of The Last of Us Part II into digestible chunks of television. Since the sequel game opens with Joel’s murder, the series will have to find a new lead.
