The Fugitive’s Original Villain Would Have Been A Mistake (& Cost The Movie Its Oscar)
Had The Fugitive been made with its original villain plan in place, not only would it have been a mistake for the narrative, it would have likely cost the movie its Oscar. The 1993 thriller directed by Andrew Davis starred Harrison Ford as Richard Kimble, a doctor falsely convicted of his wife’s murder, and Tommy Lee Jones as U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard, who doggedly pursues him after he sets out to prove his innocence. As Gerard narrows in on Kimble’s location in a deadly game of cat and mouse, the real killer remains at large and closes in on their next victim.
