Stephen King Nearly Directed This 2017 Movie, And It Would’ve Completely Changed His Career
Stephen King came close to helming an adaptation of one of his most infamous books, which could have launched a whole new phase in his career. To date, King’s only credit behind the camera is 1986’s Maximum Overdrive, where a diner is besieged by sentient killer trucks. King himself presented the movie’s trailer, where he spoke about the previous movie adaptations of his work before declaring “If you want something done right, you outta do it yourself!” This was a particularly bold statement, considering filmmakers such as John Carpenter, David Cronenberg, Brian De Palma and Stanley Kubrick had tackled his work at this point.
