Spock Wasn’t In Star Trek: First Contact, But His Great Grandfather Was

Legendary Star Trek character Spock (Leonard Nimoy) wasn’t in Star Trek: First Contact for obvious reasons, however, his great-grandfather does appear at the movie’s end. As Vulcans, Spock’s family have a long history with the Federation, going back even further back than his father Sarek (Mark Lenard). It therefore makes perfect sense to tie the family into the historic first meeting between Zefram Cochrane (James Cromwell) and the Vulcans depicted in First Contact. Although it’s never been definitively established on-screen, there’s a compelling argument to make Spock’s great-grandfather the first Vulcan to shake a human hand.
