Pixar Could Easily Beat Frozen 2’s $1.4 Billion Record With 1 Unconfirmed Sequel

Once a bankable studio that could do no wrong, Pixar has struggled at the box office in recent years, but one unconfirmed sequel could massively surpass Frozen 2‘s box office record. Pixar’s last huge success was 2019’s Toy Story 4, and the six movies released since then have been box office bombs, released straight onto Disney+, or barely broke even. Onward made just $133 million, $67 million less than its budget (via The Numbers). Soul, Luca, and Turning Red were thrown onto Disney+ like they were lesser films. Then Lightyear was a total box office flop, and most recently, Elemental only just broke even following a disastrous opening weekend.
