One Piece Editor Tessa Verfuss Talks Translating Eiichiro Oda’s Tone To Live-Action
The team behind Netflix’s live-action One Piece show took every step possible to stay true to Eiichiro Oda’s source material. Based on the manga, and subsequent anime, of the same name, the story centers on adventurous young pirate Monkey D. Luffy as he sets out to form a crew and find the mythical treasure known as the One Piece to become the King of the Pirates. The live-action show was created in partnership with Shueisha and produced by Tomorrow Studios and Netflix. Matt Owens and Steven Maeda are writers, executive producers, and showrunners. Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements also executive produce.
