A Nightmare on Elm Street star Heather Langenkamp reveals the one detail Wes Craven got surprisingly right in the classic horror movie’s script. Craven was responsible for some of the most memorable exploitation films of the 1970s, but he took a step up in class with 1984’s imaginative supernatural slasher movie starring iconic movie monster Freddy Krueger. An entire franchise of Krueger-centered movies, TV shows and other media would follow, but the original Nightmare remains the most beloved film in the series. The first installment in the Nightmare franchise didn’t just introduce Robert Englund’s Freddy of course, it also proved an auspicious early role for Langenkamp, who starred as Nancy Thompson.
