New Hunger Games Movie Risks Creating Another YA Movie Franchise Mistake

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes movie, an adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games prequel novel, is set for release in November 2023, but its success could lead to another YA mistake in Hollywood. Telling the story of Hunger Games villain Coriolanus (later President) Snow, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes stars Tom Blyth as the young Snow and Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird, a previous Hunger Games victor. It comes 8 years after the final Hunger Games film, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, released in 2015.
