Marvel’s Phase 4 Cut The MCU’s Darkest Movie Ending Since Infinity War

Eternals could have given the Marvel Cinematic Universe its darkest movie ending since 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War. While a rewatch of the MCU’s movies will cement that Marvel Studios has not been afraid to dip its toes in quite a bit of sad and dark endings, no movie has quite gone to the same level of bleakness as Avengers: Infinity War did. The third Avengers film ending with Thanos succeeding and snapping the Infinity Gauntlet to dust away half of the universe’s population, including most MCU heroes, was a groundbreaking twist for Marvel movies.
