Lawmen: Bass Reeves Cast & Real Life Character Guide

Lawmen: Bass Reeves is based on the real-life lawman Bass Reeves, who was famously one of the first black law enforcement officers west of the Mississippi River. The Paramount+ show chronicles the origin and rise of Bass Reeves who was born a slave in Arkansas before the United States Civil War. Reeves eventually was able to escape and live in Indigenous Territory, known today as Kansas and Oklahoma, until the Thirteenth Amendment liberated Reeves and abolished slavery in 1865. The real-life Reeves is most famous for arresting more than 3000 outlaws while never being wounded once during his career.
