It Doesn’t Take Long For Ever Crisis To Ruin Its Final Fantasy 7 Vibes
The second remake of the beloved Final Fantasy 7, the mobile-only Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis, has a strong start where it channels the full, nostalgic vibe of the original game, but it does not take long for the game’s gacha elements to completely ruin the immersion. Players experience the now iconic intro featuring Cloud and Avalanche members leaping off a train to attack a Shinra mako reactor facility. The touchscreen-based movement provides an approximation of traversal from the PlayStation Final Fantasy 7, and the modified ATB system resembles the PS1 experience. Sadly, all the positive momentum comes crashing to a halt once the garish gacha screens begin flashing.
