Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder’s new show The Curse tells a darkly comedic tale that delves into a surprising number of social issues, all while delivering an engaging and sometimes uncomfortable narrative. Created by Benny Safdie, who also plays Dougie Schecter on-screen, the series follows newlyweds Whitney and Asher as they film a reality show called Fliplanthrophy. As its name suggests, the initial point of Fliplanthrophy is to help underserved communities and create news ones. Of course, these good intentions quickly give way to an array of problems — and that’s not to mention the curse supposedly wreaking havoc on Whitney and Asher’s personal and professional lives.
