The Netflix documentary series How to Become a Cult Leader finds its third episode focusing on infamous Buddhafield founder Jaime Gomez. Born in Venezuela, Gomez moved to Hollywood to break out as an actor. But with his acting dreams going nowhere, he instead resorted to holding mental sway over many innocent youngsters in the 1980s, eventually forming the cult known as Buddhafield. Peter Dinklage reveals, as the narrator of How to Become a Cult Leader, that Gomez resorted to parlor tricks and mental manipulation to convince his followers to do his bidding. Described as a “chiseled charlatan,” Gomez was also involved in tax evasion and sexually predatory behavior.
