How Much The Pacific Cost To Make (& How It Compares To Band Of Brothers’ Budget)

In 2010, HBO set out to make an epic miniseries entitled The Pacific, a costly World War II period piece that would accompany the series Band of Brothers. Executive producers Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks (who had partnered together for Band of Brothers) joined forces again to tell the tale of America’s military activities around the Pacific Ocean including famous battles on Iwo Jima and Peleliu. After the critical and commercial success of Band of Brothers in 2001, HBO greenlit the project with an original budget of $100 million, but that number proved to be impossible to meet.
