George Lucas’ Darth Maul Plans Would Have Made Him A Copy Of Darth Vader
George Lucas’ original plans for Darth Maul in the Star Wars prequel trilogy would have brought the character back, but also made him a copy of Darth Vader. After his defeat in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Maul didn’t return to the franchise until Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but Lucas considered resurrecting the character years earlier. Maul very well could have appeared in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, albeit with a significant change to his character. It’s ultimately for the best that Lucas didn’t have Maul return at the end of the prequel trilogy – at least not in the form he had in mind.
