Frasier Almost Cast This Actor As Maris In Season 1

Maris was ultimately never seen on Frasier, but one actor was considered for the part. A potential romance between Niles (David Hyde Pierce) and Daphne (Jane Leeves) was long brewing on Frasier, but it took seven long seasons for it to happen. Of course, Niles’ marriage to Maris Crane was a primary reason why nothing happened, even though their relationship was depicted as wildly dysfunctional. It wasn’t the original plan for Frasier to keep Maris entirely offscreen, but as the series evolved, the showrunners just thought it was funnier.
