Doctor Who’s FIRST Time War Before The Reboot Explained

When Doctor Who was brought back to television in 2005, much of its lore centered around a mysterious Time War, which itself built upon stories told in the expanded media. After being canceled in 1989 thanks to terrible ratings and audience fatigue, Who would nonetheless return in the form of an American-style television movie, co-produced by BBC Worldwide and Universal Studios. Disappointing viewing figures and a lukewarm reception meant that it would be almost another ten years before the show was fully revived when Russell T Davies, now current showrunner for Doctor Who season 14, brought it back to the BBC in 2005.
