Box Office: Why Pixar Movies’ High Budgets Are Misleading Explained By Studio President
Pixar‘s president, Jim Morris, recently shed light on why the high cost of Pixar movies is generally misleading. The renowned animation studio released its first full-length movie in 1995 with Toy Story and, since then, churned out countless critically and commercially successful computer-animated feature films, with many brought to life with significantly hefty budgets. Since the pandemic, however, Pixar has endured mixed box-office performances with Lightyear and Elemental. In particular, Elemental cost roughly $200 million, becoming one of the most expensive animated movies. The high budget became a challenge for the Pixar movie to perform at the box office, which made a comeback after a poor debut week.
