Blue Beetle Concept Artist Reflects On Making Jaime Reyes’ Suit "As Authentic As Possible"

Blue Beetle concept artist Phil Boutte discusses designing an authentic suit for Jaime Reyes and going from design to an actual practical costume. In Blue Beetle, Jaime Reyes mistakenly bonds with an ancient alien relic known as the Scarab, creating a symbiotic relationship between the two. From this, he gains powers stemming from an exoskeleton suit that emerges from where the Scarab is embedded in his back. While most intricate superhero suits are created using CG today, this one was actually built so that star Xolo Maridueña could wear it.
