Blue Beetle Box Office Beats Shazam 2’s Entire US Total In 3 Weeks, Still Not The Hit The DCU Needs

Blue Beetle has outgrossed Shazam! 2 at the domestic box office. The DC superhero movie follows Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) after he bonds with an alien scarab that gives him access to a powerful exoskeleton. Blue Beetle premiered on August 18, directly after three consecutive DC releases flopped at the box office, namely Black Adam ($393 million off a roughly $260 million budget – before factoring in publicity costs), Shazam! Fury of the Gods ($133.8 million off $125 million), and The Flash ($268.5 million off roughly $220 million).
