Barbie Needed More Songs Like "I’m Just Ken," Not Less

Barbie‘s “I’m Just Ken” song is one of the movie’s highlights, and the film actually may have benefited from more songs like it—not less. The Barbie movie soundtrack is filled with great tracks, from Charli XCX’s high-energy “Speed Drive” to Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” But perhaps one of the most impactful songs in Barbie is “I’m Just Ken,” written and produced by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt and sung by Ryan Gosling in a hilarious yet heartfelt scene near the film’s end. The song is pivotal to Barbie, and it’s hard to imagine Greta Gerwig’s movie without it.
