Are The Alien & Predator Movies Set In The Same Universe? Timeline, Canon, & Retcons Explained

There have been crossovers between the Alien and Predator franchises, but they don’t necessarily share the same timeline and cinematic universe. Both the Alien and Predator series revolve around a race of bloodthirsty extra-terrestrial monsters targeting unsuspecting humans, so it made sense for them to eventually target each other. Since they were both started by the same studio (20th Century Fox, now 20th Century Studios), it was a no-brainer for that studio’s executives to greenlight a crossover between their two biggest monster movie franchises. There was plenty of potential in a face-off between the titular monsters from the Alien and Predator movies, but that crossover complicated the timeline.
