An R Rating Isn’t Enough To Save Hollywood’s Upcoming Remake Of This 1980s Classic
The Road House remake’s R rating is a glimmer of hope, but it doesn’t change the fact that this remake doesn’t need to exist at all. Released in 1989, Road House stars Patrick Swayze as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadside bar who comes up against a corrupt businessman as he attempts to protect a small town in Missouri. The upcoming remake, dubbed a “reimagining,” directed by Edge of Tomorrow’s Doug Liman, will star Jake Gyllenhaal as an ex-UFC middleweight fighter who takes a job at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys.
