The Pokémon anime may not really be about catching them all, but catching Pokémon is still a huge part of the series, and it’s a major moment whenever a main character adds a new Pokémon to their collection. As the main character, Ash has caught quite a few Pokémon, with his total over the course of the entire series being 78–a respectable number in a world where these creatures need love and attention from their trainers.
