Fox’s long-running X-Men franchise adapted dozens of famous Marvel heroes and villains, but among several hits, a few villains were never done the justice they deserved. Though a few successful movies based on Marvel properties predate it, 2000’s X-Men did a lot to redefine what a superhero movie could be and how comic characters would be adapted to the big screen for years to come. Along with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man two years later, the franchise was instrumental in paving the way for the vast cinematic universes that would follow.
