A celebrity making a cameo in a movie can be an exciting Easter egg, but it can also have the opposite effect, bringing down the overall quality of the movie. Sometimes this is due to an excellent performer being underused. Many celebrity cameos are done by actors who could have disappeared into a larger role in the film but instead stand out as a bit part, or even playing themselves. Other times, the celebrity is not the strongest performer and is visibly awkward in the role. This case is not helped when the cameo doesn’t make sense or meaningfully develop the plot.
