Sci-fi leans into its tropes like any other genre, but in an infinite universe of possibilities, some of them are starting to get tiresome. Sci-fi can bend reality to create fantastical worlds, but it still relies on genre conventions to do a lot of the heavy lifting. This isn’t a bad thing.
