10 Cool Things About Geordi’s VISOR & Robot Eyes In Star Trek

For all seven seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) wore a futuristic VISOR that allowed him to see. Born blind, La Forge received his first VISOR (short for Visual Instrument and Sensory Organ Replacement) at the age of five. Although it did not enable him to see in exactly the same way as those with normal eyesight, it did allow him to see much of the electromagnetic spectrum. Geordi’s VISOR became a quintessential and recognizable part of his character and its abilities contributed to several TNG storylines.
