Minimum Wage: “Why We Cannot Embark On Strike” – Labour Reveals
The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has revealed why it can’t embark on another strike action over the ongoing new minimum wage negotiations.
NLC President Joe Ajaero made this known during a press conference on Monday.
According to him, the new figures the Tripartite Committee came up with are currently with President Bola Tinubu.
Ajaero stated that the N62,000 proposed by the government does not mean the organised labour will accept it as the new minimum wage.
He said:
“We cannot declare strike now because the figures are with the President. We will wait for the President’s decision.
“During the tenure of the immediate past president, the figure that was proposed to him was N27,000 by the tripartite committee but he increased it to N30,000. We are hopeful that this president will do the right thing.”
