Michael Owen Advises Alonso To Choose Bayern Munich Over Liverpool

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker, Michael Owen, has urged Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso to choose Bayern Munich over Liverpool as his next club.

It would be recalled that Liverpool current manager Jurgen Klopp will step down at the end of the season.

Similarly, Bayern Munich have announced that current manager Thomas Tuchel will also leave the Bundesliga giant at the end of the season.

As a result, Alonso, a former Liverpool and Bayern Munich midfielder whose Bayern Leverkusen side sit atop the Bundeliga table, has been linked with both clubs this summer.

However, former Ballon d’Or winner, Owen feels it would be a dangerous move for Alonso to join Liverpool, stating that it would be difficult replicating the success of Jurgen Klop.

In his words:

“It’s a big dilemma for Xabi Alonso. He is not a manager long, so I think the safer option is going to Bayern Munich. Straight away the team will be back to winning the league, it is virtually a given. So, for his progression, his stock is only going to go absolutely through the roof if he makes that safe move to Bayern,”

“Liverpool is a dangerous move. Following Jurgen Klopp is going to be so difficult. They don’t play in the style of play of Xabi Alonso at the moment, they play a different style, so it might not be that easy to convert.”
