JUST IN : Water Scarcity Hits Damaturu
Water scarcity has hit Damaturu in Yobe State, leading Governor Mai Mala Buni to direct the distribution of diesel to public boreholes in the area.
The decision aims to alleviate the water scarcity issue that residents have been facing in recent days.
The directive, outlined in a press statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, ensures there is enough diesel for all boreholes in the affected areas.Governor Buni assured that the problem would be promptly addressed.
The water shortage arose due to the destruction of a 330KVA electricity line by unknown vandals, hindering the powering of borehole generators that supply potable water to residents.
In Damaturu, the state capital, the cost of a cart of water ranges between N1,000 and N1,500, depending on the location.
