President Bola Tinubu shared that he occasionally checks in on his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari since Buhari left office in 2023.

Tinubu disclosed this information on Tuesday during the launch of Femi Adesina’s book, “Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media, and Publicity (2015-2023).”

He mentioned reaching out to the former president to inquire about his well-being and whether he is actively engaged in farming on his property in Daura, Katsina State.

Tinubu took the opportunity to commend Buhari for keeping his promise not to interfere or meddle in the affairs of Tinubu’s administration.

During his remarks, Tinubu expressed his appreciation, stating,

“When I call him (on the phone) to say, ‘Are you living? Are you going to the farm?’ you don’t hear from him (Buhari), either to nominate or intrude in the cabinet or complain about issues. Thank you for being who you are.”

Tinubu also highlighted that Buhari had distanced himself from the administration since May 29, 2023, and returned to his hometown after handing over the reins of power.

He recalled Buhari’s commitment to remain accessible if needed but without any intention to interfere, emphasizing their partnership in nurturing democracy in Nigeria.
