HORROR For Newcastle As Star Player Joelinton Suffers Bad Injury
Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton has been ruled out for a minimum of six weeks with a thigh injury.
The 27-year-old injured his quad during the Magpies’ 3-0 FA Cup win against Sunderland on Saturday.
The Brazil international has made 23 appearances this season, scoring three goals and assisting four.
Speaking on Friday, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said:
“We have had to try and pick him up. He is our midfield driving force, it is a big blow.”
Newcastle face Manchester City in the Premier League at St James’ Park at 17:30 GMT on Saturday.
Howe’s squad has been plagued with injuries so far this season, with Joelinton becoming the 11th player to have an extended spell on the sidelines.
“[Joelinton] is such an important player. He has a problem with his tendon in his quad,” said Howe.
“He is very disappointed, he wants to play and do well.”
