Herder Arraigned For Allegedly Defiling 14-year-old Daughter
A 60-year-old herder named Audu Usman was brought before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old daughter.
The police also charged a 43-year-old auxiliary nurse, Mrs. Faith Akapa, with unlawful abortion.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, the defendants committed the offence in 2019 around 11:00 pm in the Ogboro area of Imeke, Badagry, Lagos.
Adeosun alleged that Usman defiled his 14-year-old daughter, while Usman and Akapa conspired in 2022 to commit abortion.
The offence was said to contravene the provisions of sections 137, 261, 411, and 236 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015. Both defendants pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Patrick Adekomaiya, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum. He specified that one of the sureties must be a property owner.
