EPL: “Arsenal Will Not Feel Like Failures After Losing Title” – Guardiola
Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, recently addressed Arsenal’s loss in the Premier League title race, emphasizing that not securing the trophy doesn’t equate to failure.
Despite finishing behind City for the second consecutive season, Guardiola believes Arsenal shouldn’t perceive themselves as failures.
He stressed this point ahead of their upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester United.
Guardiola also commented on the precarious nature of managerial positions in modern football, citing the recent sacking of Xavi from Guardiola’s former club, Barcelona, as evidence that past achievements don’t guarantee job security in the current landscape.
In his words;
“In our job you have to win, otherwise you are in a dangerous position.”
“Whatever club, no matter your trajectory, no matter if it is new or old, you have to win and do a good job and be good with many things otherwise it happens unfortunately.”
“But people have to understand that just one win can win. All the others are failures? I don’t think so, honestly.”
“I would not feel like a failure if I did not win the Premier League and I think Arsenal do not feel that because they performed incredibly.”
“But our job is what it is. If you don’t accept that, it’s better you don’t do this job.”
