The protest against police brutality and extra-judicial killings tagged #EndSARS continued on Friday with campaigners occupying the Lagos State House of Assembly Complex.
The protesters had earlier spent the night at the entrance of the Lagos State House of Assembly complex lamenting the actions of FSAR operatives thereafter demanding it’s immediate disbandment
The lawmakers later addressed the audience promising to do something about their demands immediately.
Debating their requests on the floor of the House, lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency, Desmond Elliot said the issue has gone beyond having hotlines or doing reforms.
He suggested that since the Nigeria Police are working for the people and the people are requesting for the disbandment of a particular unit, then their request should be granted.
The Deputy Speaker in his contribution called on the Senate to institute a public probe on the extrajudicial killings of innocent Nigerian youths.
End SARS protests have been held across several states of the federation since Wednesday, in a bid to express people’s grievances against extortion and brutality by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and it’s still ongoing.
