EFCC Arraigns Two For Illegal Possession Of Solid Minerals
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ilorin recently brought charges against two individuals, Nura Lawal and Tunde Jimoh, for unlawfully possessing solid minerals.
Lawal was the driver of a truck carrying approximately 30 tons of various solid minerals, while Jimoh was the truck’s escort.
The EFCC’s Ilorin Command acted on intelligence regarding illegal mining and transportation of minerals from Kwara State for commercial purposes.
Lawal and Jimoh were apprehended in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on February 4, 2024. Lawal admitted guilt, but Jimoh pleaded not guilty.
The EFCC requested a review of Lawal’s case and a trial for Jimoh.
Consequently, the court remanded both defendants to the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Agodi, Ibadan, until June 5, 2024, when Lawal’s case will be reviewed, and Jimoh’s trial will commence.
