Buhari’s aides still tweet despite suspension by FG

Despite the ban on Twitter by the Nigerian government

Despite the ban on Twitter by the Nigerian government, some of President Muhammadu Buhari’s aides are still active on the microblogging site.

Ofofonobs reports that the Nigerian Government announced the suspension of Twitter from operating in Nigeria.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed had explained that Nigerians were using Twitter to perpetuate activities inimical to the corporate existence of Nigeria.

Ofofonobs observed that the development was announced via the official Twitter handle of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture.

Twitter’s operation was suspended less than 72 hours after the site deleted an inciting tweet by President Buhari.

Buhari had threatened to deal with those attacking government facilities in the southeast.

The president had vowed that his government would respond to those attacking government facilities “in a language they would understand.”

However, Buhari’s aides like Bashir Ahmad, his Special Assistant on New Media had tweeted shortly after the pronouncement was made.

Ahmad in a tweet wrote: “Twitter Nigeria!”

Referring followers to his other social media pages, he wrote: “In case” while disclosing his Facebook, Instagram and SnapChat accounts.

Also President Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie posted a report on Customs seizing parcels of Indian Hemp.
