Again, Court Jails Six For Internet Fraud In Ilorin (DETAILS)
Justice Evelyn Anyadike of the Federal High Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, has sentenced six internet fraudsters to jail.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ilorin Zonal Command, brought charges against them as part of efforts to combat cybercrime in Kwara and its environs.
The convicts include Ismail Abdulbasit from Kogi State, Oladipo Victor from Kwara State, Ibrahim Oluwatosin from Osun State, Ayantola Segun Samuel from Kwara State, Musbau Waris Atomo from Osun State, and Babalola Rasaq Oluwadamilare from Ogun State.
These convictions are part of a larger operation by the EFCC, resulting in the arrest of 50 suspects, including 48 students of Kwara State University and two residents of Malete, for internet fraud-related offenses.
During the trial, the court found the convicts guilty of various charges, including fraudulent impersonation and obtaining money through fraudulent means.
Justice Anyadike sentenced Ibrahim, Babalola, and Oluwatosin to pay fines of N200,000 each, while Oladipo, Ismail, and Ayantola were ordered to pay fines of N100,000 each.
Additionally, the court ordered the forfeiture of the convicts’ phones and the money obtained through their illegal activities to the Federal Government.
